Does it hurt?
There’s a common belief — especially around “sports massage” — that if it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t work. Let me set the record straight:
Soft-Tissue, Movement, & Remedial Sports Therapy doesn’t need to be painful to be effective.
Yes, some areas might feel tender, particularly if we're working on chronically tight or sensitive tissue. But discomfort should never tip over into pain. In fact, forcing painful techniques can actually do more harm — ramping up your nervous system, increasing inflammation, and making recovery harder.
I don’t believe in the “no pain, no gain” approach. Instead, I work with your body — listening to its responses and adjusting pressure and technique to suit. Most of the time, we’re aiming to calm the system, not attack it.
You’ll always be in control. I check in often, and I’ll adjust based on what your body is telling me.
This isn’t about pushing through pain. It’s about creating space for change.
