What should I wear to the session?
Soft Tissue Therapy
This is one of the most common questions I’m asked.
The short version? Wear something comfortable. Soft, stretchy gym wear is ideal, but most techniques can be carried out through clothing, so don’t worry too much about getting it “right”. I’ll always guide you on the day.
If I need access to a particular area (for example the shoulder, lower back or hip), it helps if you’re in something you can easily roll or adjust, like a loose T-shirt, vest top or leggings. You’ll always be appropriately covered, and your comfort and privacy will be respected at every stage.
One of the strengths of Soft Tissue Therapy is how adaptable it is. Lots of techniques can be just as effective through light clothing. So if you’d prefer to stay fully dressed, that’s absolutely fine. We’ll choose an approach that works for you and for the space we’re in.
This is about helping your body feel safe and supported, not exposed. If you have concerns around clothing, modesty or access needs, just let me know ahead of time. I’ve worked with a wide range of bodies and environments, and I’ll always adapt to whatever helps you feel at ease.
Relaxation Massage
For relaxation-focused treatments, most clients choose to remove clothing down to their underwear. You’ll be draped with a towel and blanket at all times, so you will never feel exposed.
If you wear a bra, a back-fastening one is easiest as it can be undone and re-fastened without needing to move - but if you prefer to keep a sports bra on, I can work around it. The heated couch, towels and blanket will keep you warm throughout.
As always, your comfort comes first. If you’d rather stay in more layers, or want to talk through what will work best for you, just let me know.
A small but important note: Underwear on the lower half must be worn for all treatments. A bra is optional. For many back, shoulder and upper-body treatments, clients prefer to remove their bra so that I can work without straps getting in the way, but you’re always welcome to keep it on if that’s what feels most comfortable. Either way, you will be draped appropriately throughout, and you’ll never feel exposed.
