What Soft Tissue Therapy is (and why it works)
Soft Tissue Therapy is advanced, hands-on treatment designed to get to the root cause of pain, stiffness and movement problems - not just the symptoms.
It’s clinical, not cosmetic — designed to create real, lasting change in how your body feels and moves.
It focuses on the body’s soft tissues: the muscles, fascia, and connective structures, using precise, responsive techniques to release tension, ease pressure on joints, and restore normal movement.
Every session starts with an assessment, so treatment is always tailored to how your body moves and responds on the day. That’s what makes it different from a standard massage - it’s more analytical, more adaptive, and more effective for lasting change.
You don’t need to be injured to benefit. Whether you’re recovering from pain, sitting too much, training hard, or simply feeling restricted and uncomfortable in your body, Soft Tissue Therapy can help you move more freely and feel more balanced.
Why it’s called “soft tissue”
It’s a common misunderstanding that “soft tissue” means gentle pressure - it doesn’t.
The name refers to the structures we work with, not the depth of the treatment.
Some techniques are light, designed to calm the parasympathetic nervous system. Others are deep, using firm pressure to release stubborn tension. Some involve stretch-based movement to restore length and function to the tissues. And so on…
All are purposeful, responsive, and guided by how your body reacts in the moment.
What Soft Tissue Therapy Can Help With
Soft Tissue Therapy is effective for a wide range of issues — from pain and restriction to fatigue and stress. It helps your body recover, move freely and function better, whatever your level of activity. Whether you’re training hard, sitting for long hours, or managing long-term tension, treatment supports lasting, functional change.

What to Expect from Your Session
Your session begins with a brief conversation and movement assessment, allowing me to understand what’s happening in your body and what you’d like to change.
I’ll assess your posture, movement, and muscle tone to tailor a treatment that’s specifically designed for you. Depending on what your body needs, I may use advanced techniques such as Soft Tissue Release (STR), Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), or assisted stretching - alongside precise, hands-on massage work.
You may stay partly clothed for some techniques or be asked to move during certain parts of the session. I’ll explain everything as we go and adjust the approach based on your feedback and comfort throughout.
This is clinical, responsive work, not a routine massage. Most clients describe it as both deeply relieving and restorative, leaving them moving more freely and feeling more at ease afterwards.
A clinical approach with a human touch
I founded The Arden Practice because too many people were falling through the cracks - they’d tried exercises, stretches or standard massage, but nothing ever seemed to shift.
I wanted to create a space where treatment feels thoughtful, effective and genuinely supportive - something that connects the science of movement with the art of touch.
With a background in healthcare and advanced training with the Institute for Soft Tissue Therapists (ISRM, Level 5), I blend clinical knowledge with intuitive hands-on work — calm, focused, and responsive to your body in real time.
Every session is a dialogue between your body and my hands: quiet, precise and deeply restorative.
It’s therapy that helps you feel safe enough to let go, and supported enough to change.

How Soft Tissue Therapy fits with other approaches
Soft Tissue Therapy works beautifully alongside other healthcare and movement-based approaches - it doesn’t compete with them.
Where physiotherapy, osteopathy or chiropractic care often focus on joints, structure, or exercise-based rehabilitation, Soft Tissue Therapy works directly with the soft tissues that control movement and function.
It helps bridge the gap between rehabilitation and hands-on treatment - easing tension, improving mobility, and supporting recovery so your body can move more freely and efficiently.
If you’re already working with a physio, osteopath or personal trainer, Soft Tissue Therapy can complement their work seamlessly - helping you feel better between sessions and making progress easier to maintain.
